Service Project 2013- Tippy Toes Website- Update #1

tippy toes

The Tippy Toes Foundation is a non-profit organization in South Africa founded by Tamarin Simpson. It is based off the understanding that positive change is possible with acts of kindness and the sheer act of “people helping people.” The Tippy Toes Foundation mission statement is:

“To bring about tangible, positive change in the communities of Melkbos and Atlantis by minimising the effects of gangsterism, drug use, physical abuse, unemployment and teenage pregnancy in these communities. By engaging the community in a loving way, we strive to uplift them through sport, education and simple acts of kindness.”

Stephanie and I have been delegated the task of assessing the Tippy Toes Foundation and finding any problems regarding grammar as well as upgrading the aesthetics of the website. We each looked through the website and talked about what we saw. We both agreed that we did like the website and loved the logo with the birds. The website has a lot of information about the projects and ways to get involved.

Before asking Tamarin what she thought needed work on the website, we thought it would be a good idea to assess the problem ourselves, because it would be the first time we visited the website. We would mimic the average person looking through a website for the first time.

What we found were grammatical errors as well as organization flaws. When going through the website I felt a little overwhelmed. I felt it was especially cramped in the Projects and Donations sections. A different layout may help with this.

As we progress in evaluating this project, we hope to gain more knowledge of the problem through Tamarin herself as well as discussing what needs to be done with Professor Gallay. An email was sent to Tamarin and we plan to get in touch with her by next week.

  1. I am SO glad that we have you ladies on board! We clearly need you 🙂
When we are constantly involved in our journey and continuing important work that we have started, we sometimes forget to let the online world know what we are up to. We do understand how important it is and I can’t tell you how excited I am that you are helping us.
We have done a lot since 2009 and thought that having different years in the home tab with all our projects for that year underneath would be an effective way to archive our story. The bird as our logo was designed and created by one of my best friends and represents our foundation being that extra push to get people to help themselves so it means a lot to me. The birds in different colours represent our rainbow nation and that we strive to help individuals to reach their heights despite their social conditions!
Thank-you so much for all your effort with our online representation, excited to see how it turns out 🙂 see you SOON 🙂
