Outside Event: Raising Money- Take 1

QU301SouthAfrica_ElisOn Tuesday, April 2, 2013, we had a group of people in our class that set up a fundraiser at Eli’s Pizza.  It was a great event because of all the people that came out to support our cause.  There were a lot of people from the Quinnipiac University community, and it shows that people here are willing to donate their time and money to such a great cause.  The Quinnipiac University community is a community of great leaders and great people that care for others.

For this event, I went with another one of the girls in the class, Alison.  It was a lot of fun and when we made it there, we met with some of the other girls in the class.  It was a good way to learn more about each other.  I feel like we still do not know a lot about each other, but with this event, it has allowed us to get to know each other a little better without talking about just classes. ElisFundraiser_2013_4

When we were being seated, we ended up being sat right next to Professor Gallay, his wife, and one of their friends.  It was an interesting experience because it is rare to see professors outside of the classroom environment.

This event was a lot of fun, and I am glad that I went.  I think that this was a great way to raise money, and we are closer to reaching our fundraising goal.

If you would like to donate to this amazing set of service projects, please go to http://qu301southafrica.com/donate/.  After this, please click on the Donate link which will send you to the correct page.  When you make the donation please make sure that the gift donation is going to “QU 301 South Africa Service Project.”  If you came to the event thank you so much for supporting such a great cause!!!

  1. I really enjoyed reading Stephanie’s blog post about the Eli’s Fundraiser Event because it was a different experience than what I experienced with it. Because Lacey and I planned the event, I felt more stressed about making sure people knew about our service project and gave their dinner checks to the buckets we provided in order for us to get some of the profits of the night. After reading all of the Eli’s blog posts, I am glad to hear that everyone enjoyed the event and that it ended up working out really well. I also agree with Stephanie that it was kind of a weird feeling and very funny to see so many professors out to dinner at the same time as us because we normally feel that being a professor is their only role and that we wouldn’t actually see them out and eating right next to us off of campus! Also, I agree that our fundraising events did bring us closer as a group and even commenting on this post way after the event, I feel as if we are even closer and I cannot wait to experience all that South Africa has to offer with these amazing people!
