The past couple of weeks have been a continuous push for donations. Our whole team has been brainstorming as many ideas as we can for ways to promote our trip and fundraise for the supplies needed.
We have had a successful night at Chili’s however, as appreciative as we are of the donations that we received from that night, it still is not enough to help us reach our goal. We have had so many ideas for fundraising and I am so thankful for all the hard work and brilliant ideas that everyone has thought of.
If these fundraisers have taught me anything, it’s that I am going to South Africa with some of the most dedicated and hard working group of people at Quinnipiac. I am so proud to be part of this group and all that we have already achieved with fundraising.
Another benefit to the fundraising is that I have had the chance to spend time with members of the group. I’m glad that we are all able to befriend each other now, before the trip, so that when we go we have the opportunity to be even closer with each other.
We have already hosted a night at Chili’s, a bake sale at the hockey game, donations given in at sorority chapters, and the QU South Africa Holiday Camp Raffle in the student center. The raffle has been doing really well and has helped other students recognize our cause.
Some people have been very generous with their donations, especially if they have a friend on the trip. Several students have been putting a lot of money towards the QU vs Yale hockey game. I think our raffle prizes are not only exciting, but really helping to promote our trip.
I hope the children of Cape Town are getting as excited as we are for this camp!
